A pergola does more than provide shade. It defines a space. It turns an exposed deck or a patch of lawn into a genuine outdoor room, somewhere you can eat, entertain and unwind without watching the sky. At Matrix Outdoor Solutions we design and manufacture premium aluminium pergolas for homes across Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty, and we install every one of them with our own team.

Every project starts with your home. We look at how the sun moves across your section, where the prevailing wind comes from, how you move between kitchen and outdoors, and what you want the space to feel like. From there we design a structure that fits, whether that is a freestanding pergola over a spa, an attached pergola that extends your living room, or a large-format canopy that covers an entire entertaining area.

Designed to suit your home

Our pergolas are available with fixed louvre, slatted, polycarbonate or solid roofing, and in a wide range of powder-coated colours. Clean lines and concealed fixings give a modern, architectural finish that complements both new builds and established homes. Posts, beams and rafters are sized to your span, so you get uninterrupted space underneath rather than a forest of supports.

Because we fabricate in-house, we are not limited to a catalogue. Need a cantilevered edge to clear a pool fence? A pergola that steps down to follow your deck? Integrated LED lighting, ceiling fans or side blinds? We build to suit, and we can pair your pergola with our outdoor blinds and privacy screens for a complete, weather-ready solution.

Built for Bay of Plenty conditions

The Bay gives us plenty of sun, but it also brings salt air, strong winds and heavy downpours. Our pergolas are engineered for local wind zones and manufactured from marine-grade aluminium, then powder-coated for a long-lasting finish that will not fade, rust or peel. Everything is fabricated in our Tauranga workshop, so quality is checked at every stage, not just at the end.

From first sketch to final fix

We keep the process simple. It begins with a free on-site consultation and measure, followed by a clear design and fixed quote. Once approved, we manage engineering and manufacture, then our installers arrive on the agreed date and leave the site tidy. If consent is required, we can assist by providing the technical drawings and documentation, but we don’t carry out the consent process itself. Most residential pergolas are installed in one to three days.

Do I need a building consent for a pergola?

Many pergolas fall within exempt building work, but it depends on size, height and roofing. We assess this at the design stage. If consent is required, we can assist by providing the technical drawings and documentation, but we don’t carry out the consent process itself.
