Louvre roofs that let you control sun, shade and shelter at the touch of a button.
Motorised opening roof systems that open to the sky, angle for shade and close tight against the rain. Designed and installed across the Bay of Plenty.
Sun when you want it. Shelter when you need it.
A louvre roof gives you the best of everything. Open the blades and you have a sunny, airy space that feels like an open pergola. Angle them and you have dappled shade that follows the sun through the day. Close them and you have a fully weatherproof roof that sheds rain into integrated guttering. At Matrix Outdoor Solutions we design, manufacture and install premium louvre roof systems for homes across Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty.
Every louvre roof we build is custom sized to your space. Whether you want to cover a compact courtyard or a large entertaining deck, we engineer the span, post positions and blade layout to give you clean lines and maximum usable space underneath.
How the system works
Extruded aluminium blades pivot through 110 degrees, powered by an electric motor. The system is controlled through a dedicated remote control and a rain sensor closes the roof automatically when the first drops fall. When shut, the blades interlock to form a sealed roof with water directed via an internal guttering system.
Blades can run in a single bay or multiple bays, each can be controlled independently, so one area can be open to the sky while another stays shaded. Add integrated LED strip lighting, infrared heaters and side blinds, and the space becomes a true outdoor room you can enjoy on winter evenings as comfortably as summer afternoons.
Freestanding or attached
Attached louvre roofs extend your living area directly from the house, with a flashing detail that keeps the junction weathertight. Freestanding systems suit pools, spas and garden areas. Both are available in a wide range of powder-coat colours, with posts, beams and blades finished to match your joinery or roofing.
Made for the Bay of Plenty
Our louvre roofs are engineered for local wind zones and manufactured from marine-grade aluminium with stainless fixings, so salt air and coastal weather are not a concern. Motors and electronics are protected within the frame, and all components are backed by manufacturer warranties alongside our own workmanship guarantee.
Getting started
It begins with a free on-site consultation, where we measure the space, discuss how you want to use it and recommend a layout. You then receive a clear design and fixed quote. We manage engineering and any consent requirements, fabricate in our Tauranga workshop and install with our own team, typically in two to four days. Ask about combining your louvre roof with outdoor blinds and privacy screens for a complete solution.

Frequently asked questions.
Can’t find what you’re looking for? Get in touch and we’ll happily talk it through.
Is a louvre roof fully waterproof when closed?
Yes. The blades interlock and seal when closed, with rainwater channelled through the beams to concealed downpipes.
What happens in a power cut?
Blades stay in their last position. A manual override is available and battery back-up options can be fitted if required.
Can I have more than one zone?
Yes. Larger roofs can be split into multiple bays, each operated independently for different shade and light levels.
Does a louvre roof need a building consent?
It depends on size and whether it is attached to the house. We assess this at the design stage and manage any application on your behalf.
How much maintenance is required?
Very little. An occasional wash with fresh water keeps the powder-coat looking new, and we recommend an annual check of drainage outlets.
Can lighting and heating be integrated?
Absolutely. LED strip lighting, infrared heaters and ceiling fans can be built into the beams and controlled from the same remote or app.
