A carport is one of the most practical additions you can make to a property, and one of the most visible. Done well, it keeps cars, boats, caravans and bikes out of the sun, salt and rain while adding to the look of your home rather than detracting from it. At Matrix Outdoor Solutions we design, manufacture and install custom carports for homeowners across Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty, with clean lines, robust engineering and a powder-coated finish built to last.

Unlike kitset carports, every structure we build is designed around your site. We measure the driveway, check clearances for vehicle doors and roof racks, look at how water will run off the roof, and match the profile and colour to your existing home. The result is a carport that looks like it was always meant to be there.

Sizes and configurations

We build single and double carports, tandem layouts for long driveways, and high-clearance structures for motorhomes, boats and work vehicles. Attached carports tie into your existing roofline or fascia, while freestanding designs give you flexibility on placement. Cantilevered options remove posts on one side so you can open doors freely and park without squeezing past a column.

Roofing is available in flat, skillion or gable forms, with long-run metal, polycarbonate or slatted finishes. Add integrated guttering and downpipes, LED lighting, a storage cupboard or privacy screening to one side, and your carport becomes a genuinely useful, all-weather space.

Engineered for the Bay

Coastal air, strong nor-easters and heavy rain are part of life here. Our carports are engineered for the relevant wind zone, fabricated from marine-grade aluminium, and powder-coated in your choice of colour. Footings are sized to your ground conditions and every structure is fabricated in our Tauranga workshop, so quality is checked before it ever reaches your driveway.

Consents, quotes and timeframes

Many carports fall within exempt building work, but larger or attached structures may need consent. We advise on this up front. If consent is required, we can assist by providing the technical drawings and documentation, but we don’t carry out the consent process itself. After a free on-site measure you receive a clear design and fixed quote; from approval, most carports are manufactured and installed within four to eight weeks, with installation itself usually completed in one or two days.

Do I need a building consent for a carport?

Freestanding carports under a certain floor area are often exempt, but attached or larger structures may require consent. We check the rules for your site. If consent is required, we can assist by providing the technical drawings and documentation, but we don’t carry out the consent process itself.
